ugly stucco ceiling, how do I make it disappear?

I need to remove stucco that was applied to gyprock ceilings. I have read about the hot water and trowel treatment, but please, please tell me of any shortcuts that you know. Life is much to short to spend my time looking up and scratching off this ugly mess. Give me any tips you might have....I'm desperate, lol
