What equipment should i use for putting dog on long chain in backyard.?

i'm pretty sure the dog is a canaan. we saved her from kill center one year ago. she has been the best dog ever! Unfortunately, this week, she has broken three screens (and got out into the neighborbood while we were out), she been climbing inside the house trying to get out. when I return home, at each window i've noticed she has knocked things down trying to get out. this has never happened before. i have a very big backyard, and i want to leave her outside when i'm out. what kind of harness or collar woujld be best. Or are there any other suggestions you may have. thank you in advance for your opinions. cathy
