When you join the uk army, how long do you have to wait to get a house if you are married etc?

My husband is joining the uk army, he is Ghanaian in Ghana and I am a British citizen in the UK. How long would we have to wait for a house once he joins, and how does it all work? I live in the Hastings area, do they take that into consideration or how do they allocate it? Thanks
