What can I do about my mom whom I suspect has Munchausen's Syndrome?

wow, alot going on in this house. I think your mom is mentally ill for sure, but as to the diagnosis, that would be a doctor's call. I don't blame u for worrying about your baby around her. If granddad is her power of attorney or guardian, then it's up to him to get her some type of help. It's very hard to get people committed to a hospital without showing proof that they're dangerous to themselves, or others. A psychiatrist can do that through a court order if they feel it is needed. As much as you say you can't afford to move out, it might be the only safe solution until Mom is gotten some help. Isn't your baby's safety your 1st concern? Talk to friends, family etc.. Find a way to move out and get away from someone who is a danger to your baby. And, encourage your granddad to get help for your mom.. Good Luck
